What is Third Eye?
"Third Eye" refers to an ancient energetic healing point located by touch at the center of the forehead. Third Eye is also known as the Sixth Chakra, The Eye of Horus or as the small endocrine gland called The Pineal Gland. This sacred point has been described as the "seat of the soul" or the "doorway to the subconscious". When the Third Eye is open all other senses become heightened. Through the breath, intention and a subtle touch, this energetic point can be awakened, bringing clarity and a deep wave of overwhelming calm.
Third Eye Massage Founder
Laura Mara
Board Certified Massage Therapist ~ Spa Consultant & Treatments Trainer
With over 26 years of extensive massage training & management experience, Laura Mara is the owner of Third Eye Massage in Stowe as well as the ongoing annual Spa Consultant and Treatments Trainer at The Namale Resort & Spa in the Fiji Islands.
In earlier years, Laura was both a Massage Therapist & Chiropractic Assistant working in the Burlington, Vermont area. She grew in skill working alongside extremely talented chiropractic doctors willing to share soft tissue techniques that were most effective for a wide range of physical issues. Becoming more comfortable in her skills and abilities, life next pulled Laura to Portland, Oregon where she continued her massage career specializing in athletes & outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds.
Being on the West Coast opened up a unique opportunity for Laura to become one of eight massage therapists and estheticians recruited to work at a world-renowned spa in the Fiji Islands, owned by Tony and Sage Robbins. This American spa team was trained in multiple massage modalities and techniques before relocating to Fiji. This team then created an entire menu of groundbreaking spa treatments. These treatments – rooted in old wisdom with a new flair – absolutely blew clients away. These unique services were then passed on to the Fijian spa team who now runs the Namale Spa.
Upon her return to the East Coast, Laura held a long-term position as Treatments Manager at the Stoweflake Resort & Spa where she developed & trained dozens of massage therapists on a new spa menu. She then became The Massage Therapist Supervisor at The Spa at Spruce Peak and continued her creativity & training.
The opportunity arose in the middle of the Covid pandemic for Laura to open her own private practice, and after two years of being in business, she is now excited and grateful to be full-time at Third Eye Massage.

What it means to be Board Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork:

This is the highest credential and certification process within the massage and bodywork profession. Additionally, in order to maintain this certification, the massage therapist needs to complete 25 hours of continuing education every 2 years. This ensures that the massage therapist has gone above and beyond the minimum requirements of licensure and that they are keeping close attention to any changes in the industry, cutting-edge techniques and staying connected to the greater massage therapy community.

*The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) is an independent, private, nonprofit organization founded in 1992.
"It was a joy to experience both the energy work in conjunction with the bodywork in a safe and healing way. It is obvious Laura possesses the ‘next level’ quality of someone who has mastered their profession from years catering to spa, resort, celebrity and sports clientele with joy, humor and a down-to-earth quality."
